Kyonooto – Ruri
Ruri is a vivid deep blue with subtle violet undertones. The name comes from ruri, the precious gemstone known as lapis lazuli, which in Buddhist tradition is said to be found on Mount Sumeru, the sacred mountain at the center of the Buddhist cosmos. As one of the Seven Treasures of Buddhism, ruri has long been revered, and the rich blue inspired by this gemstone came to symbolize nobility, purity, and the sacred.

About the Kyonooto Series
Kyonooto (pronounced kyo-no-o-to) is TAG STATIONERY's fountain pen ink series inspired by the traditional Japanese colors that have been cherished since the Heian period. Each ink is carefully developed to reinterpret these historic colors through modern ink-making techniques, with every shade carrying its own name and cultural story.
Developed in collaboration with the Kyoto Kusakizome Research Institute, the series features dye-based inks known for their beautiful shading and smooth color transitions. Their water-soluble nature also makes them suitable for creative techniques such as blending, washes, and watercolor-like effects with a water brush.
